The most important historical, artistic, landscape and monumental heritage of Massafra is that linked to the rock, whose testimonies are scattered almost everywhere, both in the inhabited center and in the countryside. A walking tour in the current town of Massafra, which houses some of the most important rock churches in the area in mysterious ravines, will lead us to the discovery of some of its hidden "treasures". The tour includes a visit to some of the crypts including, those ofSan Leonardo,CandlemasAndSant'Antonio Abate and San Marco: very rich churches from an iconographic point of view, decorated with valuable frescoes, interesting for their architectural structure and suggestive for their unusual position in the heart of the city.
