The gravina di San Marco divides the village from the medieval city and is surmounted by three viaducts: the Ponte Nuovo, the Ponte degli Zingari and the Ponte Vecchio. From the latter, it is possible to admire the village of Santa Marina within which the rock church of the same name is kept. According to ancient tradition, this stretch of ravine is called "Paradiso di Massafra", due to the amenity of the place, the beauty of the vegetation or even for the life of work and prayer that was led there. The village was inhabited from the 8th century AD. C. until the end of 1700 and the numerous finds found on the site relating to such a long period bear witness to this. It looks like a set of caves, used as homes and workplaces, entirely excavated on the east side of the ravine.

The church, with its imposing architectural structure, preserves inside frescoes, three altars, as well as interesting graffiti inscriptions.
